How to Ruin Diwali (Season 1)
When overachieving perfectionist Mmabatho Nkomo (played by Rosemary Zimu) meets her fiancé Varshen's (played by Kyle Clark) traditional Indian family for the first time, her earnest attempt to make a good impression goes catastrophically wrong. During what was supposed to be a celebratory engagement dinner, Mmabatho accidentally exposes her future father-in-law's long-hidden affair. With the festival of Diwali only days away, this explosive secret throws the medical dynasty into total chaos. Backed by an ensemble cast featuring Jailoshini Naidoo, Koobeshen Naidoo, and Sonia Mbele, Mmabatho must navigate unfamiliar cultural traditions, bridge the gap between two very different families, and race against the clock to repair the damage she inadvertently caused before the holiday is completely ruined.
